by emotas

Overview

The EtherCAT DeviceExplorer is a versatile tool for development, testing, diagnostics and service tasks. It provides EtherCAT master functionalities and allows analysis and configuration of EtherCAT CoE devices.

ation about each EtherCAT device are read from the electronic data sheet of the device, or they can be scanned directly from the device. Additionally, data of entire EtherCAT networks can be stored in project files. The built-in scripting capability using QtScript allows users to create their own test and control applications with only little effort.

Highlights

  • extensive EtherCAT master functionalities like NMT commands, SDO transfer, and PDO producer and consumer
  • saving and import of device and network configurations
  • firmware download by BootStrap-Mode
  • File over EtherCAT (FoE) – support
  • access to EtherCAT slave controller (ESC) register
  • scripting capability for the creation of user specific test or service applications
  • PlugIn support

Object dictionary
Objects of a device are presented in a clearly arranged object browser. Access to each object – according to the access rights – is given for reading and writing. Values of the objects can be displayed decimal, hexadecimal, binary or in ASCII format, depending on the data type. Large data, like domain blocks, can be read directly from – or written to files.

PDO – configuration and visualizing
EtherCAT DeviceExplorer supports the simple configuration of the PDO mapping by drag&drop function. PDOs can be sent, received and visualized with a single click.

PlugIn modules
Due to the scripting capability of the EtherCAT DeviceExplorer it is possible to adjust the surface and masks of the tool to customer specific needs. For example it is possible to include a mask for service use. It is even possible to hide the standard masks of the EtherCAT DeviceExplorer with a PlugIn.
PlugIns scripts can be written by the users, or if wished emotas can create PlugIns according to the customer’s requirements.
