What level of testing do you plan to do?
We're looking at debugging hardware issues with the network, would like to be able to determine problem messages/nodes on the network.
I would recommend getting the protocol monitor license along with the CAN bus tester 2 device. Or you can buy the unit by itself first (available from stock) and see if you are okay without that license. You can always buy it at a later point.

In developing a distributed ECU network based on CAN, a key component is the communication description in the form of DBC files. However, both devices have unique designs in terms of internal circuitry and software API/drivers. There are other differences in terms of CAN message throughput, buffer size, etc. If you are using third-party software that specifically requires the use of the Kvaser Leaf Light V2, then I strongly advise against using a different type of USB-CAN interface.
