The PCAN-Chip USB Stamp Module made by PEAK-System Technik provides an easy way to implement a CAN-FD interface connection in an embedded computer through a USB 2.0 port. The core of this tiny 20 by 25 mm sub-assembly is its CAN controller with support of the protocols CAN 2.0 A/B as well as the faster CAN FD. Circuitry components are only populated on one side of the PCB. All necessary signal contacts are provided via plated half-holes on the PCB edges making this PCAN-Chip USB suitable for automatic assembly. The physical connection to the CAN bus can be chosen by the system integrator via applicable external wiring.
The PCAN-Chip USB Eval Board represents a fully functional reference design for easy device startup and evaluation of the Stamp modules features. It also assists the embedded designer with the development of the board-level integration of this CAN interface into the target circuitry.
The PCAN-USB package includes device drivers for Windows® 10, 8.1, 7 and Linux (32/64-bit), the PCAN-Basic API
