Compact Diagnostic Device for CAN and CAN FD Buses
The PCAN-MiniDiag FD is a handheld device for diagnosing and monitoring Classic CAN and CAN FD buses. It allows technicians and developers to access networks of vehicles, machines, or industrial equipment. It determines the bit rate for Classic CAN and CAN FD using bit timing measurement and measures the termination, bus load, and voltage levels. The device has IP42 protection and is powered by three batteries.
The CAN FD standard offers higher data transfer bandwidth. It can transmit up to 64 data bytes per frame with bit rates up to 12 Mbit/s. It’s also backwards compatible with the CAN 2.0 A/B standard, allowing its use in existing CAN networks.
Device and measuring functions
- System Info: Indication of firmware and hardware version, serial number, and battery voltage
- D-Sub Voltages: Voltage check at the pins 6 and 9 in the range from -40 to +43 V
- CAN Min/Max: Measurement of minimum and maximum voltage values for CAN-High and CAN-Low in the range from -5 to +8 V
- CAN Voltages: Measurement of dominant and recessive levels for CAN-High and CAN-Low in the range from -5 to +8 V
- CAN Voltages 2: Measurement of minimum, mean, and maximum values of the dominant and recessive levels
- Termination: Measurement of the termination on the CAN bus
- Bit Rate: Automatic detection of bit rates via exact bit timing measurements or manual bit rate configuration
- Bus Load: Measurement of the CAN bus load with display in diagram
- Statistics: Counter for CAN, CAN FD, and error frames
- Detection of bit rates via exact bit timing measurements
- Measurement of the CAN termination

- Voltage measurement for CAN-High and CAN-Low at the CAN connector (D-Sub) via pin 2 and 7
